This newly released edition by Reform Studio is a collection of chair design dating as far back as the 1960s, giving it a homely and nostalgic feel. Each Grammy chair is upholstered with Eco-Friendly handmade Fabric, which is created from reused plastic bags interwoven with cotton threads. The skeleton of the chair is made out of Golden Plated Stainless Steel.
Reform Studio is a sustainable design studio based in Cairo, Egypt. The studio was founded in 2012 by two product designers, Hend Riad and Mariam Hazem, who share a passion for environmental sustainability and a desire to tackle Egypt’s plastic waste problem.
The studio creates beautiful, functional and sustainable products using upcycled materials, particularly discarded plastic bags. They have developed their own unique technique called “Plastex” which is a woven textile made from upcycled plastic bags. Their products range from furniture to accessories and they have gained international recognition for their innovative approach to sustainable design.
Reform Studio’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond their products as they also focus on educating communities about the importance of waste reduction and responsible consumption.
